"Engaging Global Communities"

Purpose

This institute is designed for teachers and administrators engaged in the work of raising achievement for all students through the application of bilingual and culturally responsive pedagogy.

Schedule

Day 1

January 17th - 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (Friday)

Friday will focus on educational leadership in a multilingual society. Policy, programs, and pedagogy will be discussed. Our featured keynoter speakers will be Dr. Kathy Escamilla and Dr. Ramón Zavala

Day 2

January 18th - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm (Saturday)

Saturday will focus on teaching and learning in a culturally and linguistically responsive classroom. The keynote address will be Karen Beeman, author of Teaching for Biliteracy: Building Bridges Between Languages. Presenters will include local teachers sharing responsive methods to empower all educators regardless of their linguistic background.

Notes

Cost is $145 for the institute registration. $85 for Saturday only.

Refunds for cancellations will be made up to January 6th, 2014.

Presenters from Dual Language of New Mexico and BUENO Education Policy Center in Colorado will also be joining us!

Lunch is provided!
